With the current climate in policing, we are now, more than ever, under scrutiny for every action that we and officers take. It is important to participate in training to get the updated information and have the best understanding we can of issues that we face. Such as dealing with callers suffering from mental illness. It takes only a Google search to be inundated with examples of officers and dispatchers who may have incorrectly handled a call dealing with an individual with a mental illness.

One important tip to remember, for both dispatchers and officers is no matter what the mental health issue may be, Slow Down & Listen.
